From New York to Los Angeles to the Rocky Mountains, Birdy always been attracted both to cities and nature. From looming buildings and their shadows to jagged mountains or the patterns on the bark of a tree trunk, her surroundings (including the people who surround her) inspire her. Her art usually starts out with something realistic from her life, but then she sees something emotional to the work and often abstracts elements such as color, line, shape, and texture. Though she draws upon her own experiences, she strives to create pieces that others can relate to. She is fascinated by materials and processes, and much of her work is experimental and may combine mediums not usually thought to go together, such as oil and resin combinations. S he is constantly creating new art and teaching, while working on custom commissions to bring life to any room for clients locally, and across the country.
