Gina Barry, Acrylics and Ink

Gina Barry Blue Moose Art GalleryGina is a third generation Colorado Native, and the mountains of Colorado have always been home. Gina earned a BFA in Graphic Design in Gunnison CO. Her career path had many twists and turns that landed her in a day job in HealthCare IT, but art was always near. In the space between raising a daughter as a single mom and working full time, Gina has carved out time to draw and paint and enjoys making cards with a gelli plate. Gina finds inspiration from the concept of Wabi Sabi: appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature. Her current work is made by dripping acrylic ink on the surface and pulling and pushing the paint with credit cards or palette knives. Once the first layers are dry, Gina draws lines over top to create spaces for mountains or flowers. Details are added to pull the viewer in closer. Gina hopes that viewers find safe spaces each time they look at her work.
