Susan Maree is a hometown artist, having lived in Greeley or Windsor all her life. Every piece of her work is infused with a palpable love, whether it be playful, somber or deep. Those who know Susan say they can see her value system in each of her works; small sketches, watercolor messages, alcohol ink designs. Her work features colors from bright to subdued, unique repeating patterns, and ethereal backgrounds. Each is suffused by an inspirational glow; whimsical in nature. As a high school counselor, Susan would regularly sketch caricatures of students she was especially inspired by, or those kids who were experiencing a challenging time. The sketches would be delivered to the student's class along with a written message of encouragement. This practice later became the impetus for a greeting card line known as Encouraging Words Art.
