This handmade ceramic platter was thrown on a potters' wheel. This piece is part of my "Meadows" series: inspired by colorful flowers and trees that cover the landscape. I decorate my work using a process called sgrafitto. I paint colored stains onto the wet clay, and then carve the designs through the color into the clay. After the piece is fired a first time, I add glaze (the glassy top coat), and fire once more. This piece is food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.
