I created the original mixed media collage of this print using cattlemarkers, watercolors, acrylics, kosher salt, wild flowers and legally harvested feathers in Montana.
This is my rendition of a mother sandhill crane painting herself by preening mud into her feathers as camouflage tactic that helps her hide amid her surroundings, while her two colts remain concealed amidst the lush grass. The creative process began by observing these magnificent birds and their young, a rare sight in late May in Montana, when the colts are usually born.
