Wild Thing--Elizabeth Hotel

“Wild Thing” depicts a hybrid rooster after breeding together a Brown Leghorn Bantam with a Jungle fowl… the wild progenitor of the domestic chicken we know today. Jungle fowl are still found will in the jungles of Asia and are frequently gorgeous additions to the exotic fowl collections of fanciers. This sculpture was originally commissioned by a breeder of exotic bantams in Saskatchewan, CANADA. He was very specific about what he wanted in the bird, providing me with multiple photos of this hybrid… but left the overall composition up to me. He wanted it elegant and at least 20” tall as it was destined to be placed on the grand piano in his solarium. He sent me photos after it arrived at his place and had been placed on the gorgeous grand piano amid huge ferns and crystal chandeliers. He was VERY pleased!!
