Lindsay Walker grew up in Longmont and moved to Fort Collins/Loveland after high school. She studied psychology at Colorado State University and hopes to return for a PhD in Applied Social and Health Psychology. While she has worked in many different industries including social work, service, and hospitality, she always comes back to art. She lives in Loveland at Artspace, an apartment complex that serves as an artist collective. Clay Caning is a process inspired by the italian glass blowing technique called millifiori or, "a thousand flowers" and involves assembling many small colored rods of polymer clay to form a large, patterned cane. When the cane is stretched or “reduced”, the pattern inside the rod maintains a miniature version of the original, no matter how narrow the cane becomes. According to Lindsay, “Over and over again, I learn the lesson of serenity through my work, that it isn’t until I let go of my need for complete control that a beautiful piece is created by my gentle molding of what is the clay’s natural tendency to form shapes and patterns.”
