My perennial flower garden is one of my favorite things. The colors, aromas, hummingbirds, and bees make me smile. My favorite ones are the peony bushes. It's a short window when they are in bloom, so I have much anticipation for their blooms. I haven't done a pencil drawing for several years, but felt a strong desire to do one this year, so a peony it was. It's easy to get lost when working in only black and white, so I took one section at a time and focused on values. Then I'd step back and think, yeah that looks like a flower. The title "My Way" came to me when I thought of how peonies bloom. Each bloom is slow and completely unique. Every bloom does it "their way".
