Roger specializes in custom-made furniture, cabinets, shelves, clocks, and more. He’s also known for his beautiful ukuleles, some of which he has sold to people who don’t even play; they just hang them as art.
For his demo, Roger will showcase his Pet Urns and talk about how laser engravers are used to customize the urns. He will also share the process of bending wood which is used to create his Shaker Boxes and Ukuleles.
Susie’s love for clay began in elementary school making pinch pots and dragons. After another ten years and a lot of classes, she set up her own pottery studio. She loves the smooth, earthy feel of clay and turning a lump of clay into functional pottery.
A few years later, something else caught her eye: Dichroic Fused Glass! Now, her time is divided between working with clay and the bright shinny colors of glass.
For her demo, Susie will be sculpting little doggies, maybe a cat or two.
Capturing the spirit of an animal is what Deb strives for when she paints an animal portrait. That is achieved mostly through the eyes and body language.
Most of Deb's paintings are done with only transparent watercolors, however for some animal paintings she uses a bit of gauche, too. This is an opaque watercolor that can be helpful with fur or details.
Vicki works in both watercolor and mixed media collage. The animal world is her chosen subject. Vicki’s history as a nurse and caretaker draws her into the essence of her subjects, a talent born of patience, acceptance and compassion. These core creative skills bring her closer to her subjects and closer to those who find her work appealing.
For her pet demo, Vicki will create a cat collage. Vicki’s mixed media collages use acrylic paint on wood or canvas, and repurposed painted paper to create animals and birds rich with texture and color.
Judy Scherpelz uses the technique of needle felting to create 3-D and 2-D wool sculptures from raw wool, resulting in whimsical characters such as gnomes and dragons, animals, and people, plus cards and landscapes.
For her demo, Judy will be creating pet portraits in wool.
Chandris gathers her inspiration for her creations from the nature that surrounds her and from her travels. With a focus on a smaller scale of stained glass pieces, she loves to create modern designs in a medium that has been around for centuries.
For her demo on July 27, Chandris will be sharing all the steps of producing a stained glass piece, including the foiling and soldering process. For any stained glass piece purchased during her demo, receive a free honeycomb charm.
